    Review
"...if you are a statistical fan, then this book is for you because no stones are left unturned." --Norris McDonald, (Toronto) Saturday Star

"What makes this 500-page tome special is that it includes information about almost every car and every driver to compete behind the wheel of a Formula One car from the sport's humble beginnings in 1950, to the beginning of the 2008 season. If you are a fan of auto racing, then this book should be in your personal collection. It is obvious that its authors did their research, and I doubt that there is a more comprehensive resource on the subject of Formula One available anywhere." --Russell Purcell, CanadianDriver.com

"This book is a must-have for Formula One racing fans."

    From the Inside Flap
As the title implies, The Complete Book of Formula One is exactly that. Never before has there been as thorough a chronicling of Formula One history. From the inaugural season of 1950 through the 2008 season, every detail of every race is organized in a reference book that is both easy to use and exciting to read. The careers of every driver, the results of every race, and the champions of every season are all here, with over 4,000 color and archival black and white photos. With season overviews, narratives, and analysis introducing each chapter, gain insight into the drama and rivalry that defines Formula One racing.

Simon Arron has been infatuated with cars since childhood and has written about them for more than 20 years. A former editor of Motor Sport, he turned freelance in 1997 and contributes regularly to publications all around the world, including The Daily Telegraph and Motorsport News.

Mark Hughes is one of the most highly respected and authoritative writers in contemporary motor sport. He combines an acute understanding of present-day Formula One with an intuitive feel for the past and his work appears in a wide variety of magazines, including Autosport.

Both writers attend every round of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

    Not so complete...2
I bought this book based on the "Complete" description. Yes, it does have hundreds of shots of cars throughout the history of the modern era of Formula 1 (1950-2007). Unfortunately, many of these images are of marginal quality or have been seen over and over in other publications. Granted, it is primarily a book of photographs, but I am particularly disappointed in the writing that accompanies each year's chapter. For example, the most recent season (2007) is reviewed in typical British tabloid-style about the McLaren cheating scandal. The verdict has long been in and I don't want to read that it was "circumstantial evidence" that caused poor McLaren to get kicked out of the constructor's championship and penalized with the $100,000,000 fine. McLaren's paying of Ferrari's legal fees (and more) as well as making a public apology pretty much puts paid to the "circumstantial" claim. Anyway, if you want to see a thumbnail photo of (nearly) every F1 car ever raced, this is your book. If you want a "Complete" book of Formula One, look elsewhere.

I bought this book for a friend for Christmas. He absolutely loved it. It gives a comprehensive view of Formula One from its inception. I recommend it for any Formula One enthusiast.
